Elon Musk buys Twitter and immediately gets rid of the CEO, CFO, and head of legal, policy, and trust Vijaya Gadde. Gadde was responsible for making Twitter a safe place for users by getting rid of hateful speech and misinformation. Even though Musk got rid of her, he tried to make the other employees feel better by saying that there won't be any major layoffs. In an open letter to advertisers, Elon Musk expressed his gratitude for their support. He also laid out a vision for a social platform where all sides of various issues could debate one another. He emphasized how important it is for the future of civilization to have a common digital town square. This is a bold move by Twitter, firing the general counsel who was in charge of moderating speech on the platform. There are many users who feel that the restraints on their free speech were oppressive, and they are celebrating the lifting of those restraints. It is not yet clear what the advertising landscape will look like in light of this change.
