Twitter - Yao Yue Was Recently Fired Due to a Tweet

Yao Yue, a former employee of Twitter, was recently fired due to a tweet he posted. The tweet blamed slow performance on something that was subsequently debunked by a senior engineer at Twitter. Mike Cvet was fired from his position as tech lead for Twitter infrastructure for violating company policy. This was made apparent when Cvet himself tweeted about the firing of Nick Morgan, a Twitter Backend Engineer. In the tweet, Cvet alluded to the fact that it is self-defeating for a company to fire key employees simply due to their privately shared opinions. Nick Morgan tweeted that he had been terminated for failing to display 100% loyalty within the company's slack channel. The notification he received regarding his firing read: " Hi, we regret to inform you that your employment is terminated effective immediately. Your recent behavior has violated company policy." The firings of people at Twitter is causing an immediate concern of loss of people who work to keep Twitter running on a daily basis and come up with innovations to keep it running in the future. A hidden factor that should be of top concern is the loss of institutional knowledge that those who were recently fired can't be replaced.
