There have been reports that a lot of Twitter employees have been leaving the company recently. On Thursday evening, it seemed like even more employees were leaving and people who use Twitter were saying goodbye to the platform. Twitter was trending on Twitter with eleven out of the top trending topics related to the company. Some employees who have resigned say that it seems like Twitter is about to "break." Both Tumblr and Mastodon have seen an increase in Google searches over the past few days. In response to the temporary situation, Tumblr tweeted out a humorous message saying "Hold up, like 12 new people joined. Give it a sec". Out of the top 11 trending topics on Twitter, 10 were about the recent shutdown of the site, with keywords such as #TwitterDown, #Elon, #Mastodon, and #Twitter.com trending. Additionally, the top 10 trending topics on Google were also about the Twitter shutdown. For the night, the top 5 trending topics included Twitter, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Twitter itself. The new trending topic on Twitter, Space Karen, is a reference to a projection that was displayed on the side of the Twitter headquarters yesterday evening. The projection displayed a series of amusing monikers for Elon Musk. This weekend, the biggest sporting event in the world, The World Cup, will start and is expected to bring a lot of activity to the Twitter platform. This weekend will be a test of Twitter's resilience. With the historic event happening this weekend, Twitter is restricting employee access to all its buildings through the weekend with no reason given.
