During the November 2022 edition of Google's Search Engine Optimization (SEO) office hours Q&A session, John Mueller of Google Search Advocate denied a theory suggesting that the advancements in speed of HTTP/3 would have a direct effect on a website's SEO. Mueller said on the matter: "Google does not currently take HTTP/3 into account as a ranking factor". Googlebot is equipped with technology allowing it to make use of HTTP/2, however, it is only utilized when it offers an advantage over HTTP/1. As for the adoption of HTTP/3, it is currently not foreseeable. Websites that elect to use HTTP/3 shortly will not witness a direct rise in their search engine scores. John Mueller from Search Engine Journal has stated that there will be no direct impact to the website from the introduction of http/3. On the contrary, Mueller believes that even though the website itself may not experience a crawling upgrade, the users may still see a boost in the performance of the site.
